Last night, 10/29/24, members from Upperco, Glyndon, Reisterstown, Hampstead, and BCoFD Career Station 56 participated in a grain bin (silo) rescue training drill at the Upperco Station. Upperco Volunteer was selected by Nationwide Insurance to receive this life saving grain bin rescue equipment along with 6 other departments state wide. Training was provided by the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS) and was critical to learn the procedures needed to provide this new service to our community & surrounding areas. Many evolutions were conducted and everyone learned a lot. This new equipment will now be carried and available by Upperco Volunteer Fire Company should the need arise. We would like to thank Nationwide Insurance & the additional Maryland agricultural stakeholders that made this equipment available. If you would like to become a volunteer at Upperco Volunteer Fire Company you can visit uppercovfc.org to fill out an application. |
